Welcome to the DFW DAMA Home Page!
DFW DAMA is a not-for-profit association of data professionals in the Dallas/Fort Worth area focused on helping DFW data professionals become more knowledgeable and skilled in their professions.
This is going to be an exciting year for the DFW DAMA organization. This is not the old DFW DAMA, we have a lot of new ideas and exciting events lined up for this year. 2007 is going to be a year to remember for DFW DAMA!

Certified Data Management Professional
The Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) credential is awarded to those who qualify based on a combination of criteria including education, experience and test-based examination of professional level knowledge. This credential is offered at the Mastery or Practitioner level. To maintain certified status and continued use of the credential, an annual recertification fee along with a 3-year cycle of continuing education and professional activity is required.

| Conferences.Our conferences represent the best that
DAMA has to offers. This includes seminars, mini-workshops, and classes in Business Intelligence, XML,
Warehousing, Quality, Integration, Modeling, Success Stories, and much more. Several keynote-speakers bring
attendees a look at the best of breed in data knowledge. Our main spring conference not only is an important
source of revenue to DAMA but it allows DAMA members and non-members from around the world to get together in
a relaxed atmosphere and share ideas and experiences.e |
| Programs.A multitude of well-known speakers can
provide intellectual base to your next meeting. This usually happens upon request from interested chapters we
don't assume what they want. This allows for a given speaker to be shared between various chapters in a
common geographic region, thus reducing the overeall cost. |
| Communications.In addition to our website, there is
always a need for other types communication--Magazines (suchas DM Review), journals, Call for papers, the
Business Intelligence Network, a DAMA newletter,etc. The communication function includes advertisements and
news articles through magazines, journals, and email broadcasts to members and interested parties alike.
This year DAMA board members will be writing articles for DM Review that talk not just about DAMA, but cover
new emerging
technologies and concepts.

| Operations.A key function of operations at DAMA-I
involves managing the official document. This includes By Laws, , Code of Ethics, The code of ethical
behavior and professional conduct, Handbook of Policies and Procedures, Policies and procedures for DAMA's
administration,General Liability Coverage, and Coverage for Chapters and Officers of DAMA-I.

| Finance.As a not-for-profit organization, DAMA
manages its finances with precision, consistency, and clarity. Budgets are prepared annually to account for
all income and expenditures of the board. Each member of the board is asked to complete a spending plan for
the year. After the budget is approved, all expenses are scrutinized carefully and larger items, usually
accompanied by cost-benefit analysis, are approved by the board. |
| On-line
Service.Having a website full of information on events and
services is one of DAMA-I's most important tools. Our site, as you can see, offers information on joining a
chapter, attending a conference or talk, and educational opportunities. Website, Special Webpages,
Discussion Groups are being developed, and service is available to our members and associate to form lists of
people for exchanging ideas or publishing electronic journals. A membership database allows for management
of the joining process and producing email lists for special interests. |
Memberships.DAMA International provides for two
classes of membership:
DAMA GLOBAL CHAPTER (Members-At-Large) -- Members-at-Large are individuals or organizations that desire to be
members of DAMA but cannot join a local/regional chapter for practical reasons. The DAMA Global Chapter is
now formed for individuals world-wide as virtual chapter. For more information about membership in this
chapter or general membership information please contact VP Member Services.
Chapter Membership -- To join a local / regional chapter of DAMA International, contact the appropriate
chapter listed under DAMA Chapters. If you are interested in starting a chapter in your area, contact VP
Chapter Services, DAMA International. We can help you organize a local chapter, get speakers, publicize
meetings, etc. |
| Marketing.The marketing function has a goal of
increasing membership by surveying needs of the data administration community, attracting people to
membership in chapters and attendance at conferences, and expanding or discovering new services that DAMA-I
can offer. |

Foundation. The DAMA International Foundation is the
Research and Education Affiliate of DAMA International with a mission to Promote Professional Data

| Professional
Groups. DAMA-I has created "Professional Groups.'" collections
of data professionals who will identify the basic principles, best practices, and a body of knowledge for
various data management disciplines. Each group specializes in one particular subject area (such as data
warehouse, data architecture, etc.).
The common guidelines shared among groups includes, among many, the retaining a vendor-neutral position,
avoiding marketing of products/services, ensuring an academic approach, and publishing their findings
through the Foujndation. |

| Advisors.DAMA International's Advisory Board is a sub-group of
seasoned professionals in the Data Administration arena. As the title implies, the advise the DAMA board on
it's direction, strategies, and planned activities.
This group currently exists of Peter Aiken (Institute for Data Research), John Ladely,( Co-Founder, KI
Soutions, Inc.), Graeme Simsion, (Simsion & Associates in Australia), Len Silverston, (Universal Data Models,
Inc.), and John Zachman (Advisor Emeritus, of Zachman International). |
